What I can do for you

I am trained and experienced in other subjects as well as counselling and psychotherapy (which, in reality, are mostly used as interchangeable terms).  I have many years of business behind me, from staff member up to owner and director.  I have trained many people in counselling, business skills, IT, maths and English.  I have a qualification in coaching and can use those skills intertwined with everything else to make your time with me a truly unique and personalised partnership.

Counselling

Often used to describe briefer work for issues which are narrower in their scope.  This may be things like grief, divorce and topics which don't have a wider background to them.

Psychotherapy

This term usually means working with something deeper, like childhood trauma, self-esteem, OCD, anger and depression.

Coaching

Uses a lot of basic counselling skills, but they are geared more towards specific goal-setting and achievement.

Training

These are the things we don't get taught in school but can make a huge difference to quality of life, both at work and at home, such as time-management and self-organising.

For example

You've decided it's time to go it alone and start your own business (fantastic!), but there are things holding you back.

Maybe there is some deep-rooted historical stuff from childhood which has left you with self-doubt and low self-esteem.  This is where psychotherapy can help to put these things to bed.

Then, perhaps, there are some core skills like time-management and general organisation which could do with a polish.  My training background can get you on the right path.

Lastly, putting it all together, adjusting to being your own boss and setting goals for the development of your new venture.  Coaching - both personal and business-oriented - is another piece of the puzzle.

That's just one way that lots of different techniques and tools can be combined to deal with the specific issues and challenges unique to you.
